Amanda’s great uncle, Otto Degener, and his wife Isa Degener were both botanists who lived in Hawaii. Before Otto’s death he sent copies of his self-published books to Amanda. Most of the plant illustrations are by the artist KK Park, a native Hawaiian. After some work in photoshop Amanda converted the images to polymer plates and printed them on her own handmade paper. Some of the papers are seconds from collaborative production that occurred at Cave Paper before 2020 but many of the papers are made from plants Amanda harvested from her Minneapolis Garden.
